The BBC has an interesting article about the execution of a murderer in Utah by firing squad, this particular article covered the use of Twitter by Attorney General Mark Shurtleff in announcing the execution.
Apart from the method of execution the Attorney asked in his tweet for his sky dwelling being (God) to grant this killer the mercy he refused his victims;
I find the whole thing interesting but disappointing, I think what they should really have done to make this a mass media coup was take the killer in question and spend several days testing several untested vaccines on him and tweeting the process and the overall health of this murderer.
Its just a firing squad is a bit old fashioned, and as for public executions I can just watch a recording of one from Saudi Arabia.
I think the vaccine testing would be interesting (and productive), they could have also taken some of the killer in questions blood for people who need it (if they don't mind having a cold blooded killers blood pumping through their veins).
That being said a firing squad was a dramatic approach and for the families of the victims probably a lot more satisfying than watching him getting a lethal injection, which looks like nothing more than someone getting a flu shot and going to sleep!
